Gwendolyn is not the only fairy royal to go off the rails though she remains the best known. And when the current Queen tries to rein Eileen in, she uses Gwendolyn’s dreadful example to try to shock her cousin into behaving, knowing Eileen does not approve of their ancestor’s antics. It fails as when Eileen falls in love, she begins to understand a little of why Gwendolyn acted the way she did. Eileen honestly believes her attempt at a clean break with the Kingdom is far more honourable than what Gwendolyn did given the latter took her unsuitable paramours home and was aghast at the consequences (civil wars!).
L’Evallier’s lineage is one of the most distinguished in the realm. His ancestors have served the fairy royals for millennia. He takes his responsibilities as Council Leader and Chief Elf seriously (not all of his kind have and some were downright corrupt but naturally he never talks about them). Unlike his ancestors, L’Evallier sees it as his duty to be the monarch’s conscience. Naturally Roxannadrell wishes L’Evallier had not taken this upon himself. L’Evallier is proud of the fact many of his ancestors have fought dragons and foul fiends for centuries. Courage is highly treasured by his family and kind.
