- Common Sense.
- Courage.
- An awareness of their own failings.
- Compassion
- A sense of humour (They'll need it for some of the situations I will drop them in!).
- Honesty
- A hatred of Evil (They have a strong sense of right and wrong without being self righteous).
- Capacity and willingess to learn from mistakes and to grow as characters as a result. (Nobody stands still on my watch!).
- Knowing when to rely on themselves and when to call other help in. (Also knowing nobody does it all. Everyone needs help from outside sources at times. Equally I don't want my characters to be useless who rely on others to do everything for them. Even if all my character can do is point someone else in the direction of someone better to help them, that is doing something and showing self awareness of their own limitations, I always like that in a character and in life).
- Resourcefulness.
So what qualities must your characters have to make it into your tales?
