One thing all writers need to guard against is procrastination. This is where entering short story and flash fiction competitions can help. You simply have to meet their deadline to be in with a chance. When I'm not entering competitions, I set myself a deadline for my blog posts and so on as I find it useful to always work to a time limit. It helps me get the job done!
Whether you're a fairy godmother or a contract assassin, you find ways of getting the job done (if for no other reason but to avoid landing in trouble with the boss). Your characters should have their ways and means to achieve things. So how do they get the job done? Do they respond well to pressure?
