Eileen is brave, honourable, devoted to her family, prepared to resist evil no matter what the cost and can see the wood from the trees when it counts. She ignores the “disadvantages” of Derek’s so called inferior species and is not afraid to criticize her own magical world. She loves to live her own life but will sacrifice almost anything for Derek, Jenny and later on Edward (she’d make some concessions to Paul, her detested son-in-law, for Jenny’s sake).
AND WHAT I DISLIKE!
The fact she's prepared to risk everything if the cause is right means if there's anyone innocent in the way, it's just bad luck on them. Hypocrisy is no crime (and it just wouldn't be for Eileen even if were in the Fairy Kingdom's or Earth's legal systems) so Eileen can and does find it easy to justify herself. Okay a lot of the time she is right but she is not humble enough to see that does not mean she is right all of the time. Jenny is keen to correct her mother on this, which Eileen doesn't like. Jenny's husband, Paul, is even more keen to put Eileen in her place and it's only the fact that Jenny misguidely loves the man that stops him from becoming anything remotely amphibian. (Jenny is aware of this. It is yet another reason for her to hate her mother's past life!).
