L’Evallier is the snob’s snob but is the most honourable member of the Queen’s Council as he refuses to indulge in sycophancy and is unafraid to criticize the Queen when he feels she needs it. In her defence, she recognizes the need for a gallant knight like L’Evallier. He is rarely surprised but the most momentous moment in his life was meeting and falling head over heels in love with his wife, Melanbury. Posh elves are not supposed to feel passion, it is undignified, but he has found he no longer cares about that!
He continues to speak his mind, risked his life to help others during the Queen's brief overthrow and admires Eileen for her honesty and courage (but loathed and continues to loath her defection to Earth). He will not use contractions in his speech and writing. Roherum has noted many times L'Evallier has managed the good trick of sounding and being more posh than the Queen.
AND WHAT I DISLIKE!
His loathing of contractions is pure snobbery. Has old-fashoned views, particularly about the role of women (and despite admiring Eileen) though Melanbury is working on this and is confident she'll change his view here. In anyone else, that would take a decade or more. In her case, I'd give her a year, two at the outside.
