- Aslan. Any world that has a talking, magically powerful lion has to have something special about it, as does the lion so ensure you stay on the right side of said lion.
- Gandalf. Crossing a powerful wizard is rarely a good idea. Crossing a heroic powerful wizard never is.
- Aragon. Unless you fancy being run through with a sword. Sadly, and I know it is totally discriminatory, it is better to keep on the right side of him than the hobbits per se. He literally carries more weight.
- Harry Potter. If you know your stories well, you will know the downtrodden, understated hero is bound to prevail at the end. You want to be on the right side when they do. And someone with a special "birth mark", who is a legend in his own magical world before he knows he is, almost certainly has greatness about them.
- Commander Samuel Vimes. A character with a strong sense of justice who is prepared to back it up with force. Yes, good idea to keep him relatively happy I'd say.
- Granny Weatherwax. Same as for Vimes funnily enough but there is more to her than just headology. The magical element adds to her being a dangerous character to offend.
- Nanny Ogg. Charming, fun, but still magically powerful and quite happy to put the boot in should the occasion demand it. Has a wide range of connections. Hmm... if she doesn't get you, she will know someone else who will (quite likely to be Granny).
- Havelock, Lord Vetenari. See Raising Steam in particular for reasons why. He may be the Patrician but he has the power of life and death and can sometimes be seen to wield it directly - a shovel makes an excellent weapon. Oh and he has spies everywhere. You don't want him to detain you. It could be the last thing you ever experience.
- Aladdin. Anyone who can go from pauper to powerful prince back to pauper and then back to powerful prince again has something about his character that tells you they're not going to give up. There is also more than a hint of magical assistance coming to the aid of this lad. Don't get in the way.
- The biggest of the Billly Goats Gruff. For strength, for cunning, for outwitting a troll, yes, here is a character to be wary of - what would he do to you? Besides as a goat, you wouldn't want to get in the way of those horns anyway.
